Fort Wayne web firm is seeking a Graphic Designer for a contract to hire position. Candidates experience should include:• Bachelor'(tm)s degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design, fine arts, or closely related field. A minimum of two to three years of full time experience required.
• One to two years of progressive work experience in conceiving and executing graphic design projects primarily designing, laying out, illustrating, and producing graphic communication materials
• Strong skills in the operation of graphics design equipment and in the use of graphics design software packages.
• Computer literacy in standard graphic design software packages and advanced knowledge of graphic file formats (tiffs, jpegs, etc.).
• Ability to utilize traditional graphic production methods, techniques, and equipment; must understand design principles and printing processes.
• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project), Outlook/Lotus Notes, Quark XPress, and Adobe design software, and ability to quickly learn new software programs. Experience with variable tiff construction preferred.
• Ability to meet deadlines within budgetary constraints and to efficiently and accurately produce a broad range of materials, most prominently graphic designs and communication materials.
• Preferred qualifications include experience managing vendors and/or subcontractors; and knowledge of health plans, managed care, and/or Medicaid/Medi-Cal.
• Experience working with non-English language materials
Job Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the quality of materials by using client design standards and review processes.
• Works closely with the Department of Health Care Services and client staff to coordinate material development projects. Works closely with translation specialists and literacy specialists to design HCO informing materials.
• Designs and produces concepts, designs and copy layouts using computer-based and traditional methods to meet agency standards and deadlines.
• Participates in and coordinates the work of other staff in the planning, development, and production, and implementation of printed materials.
• Applies commonly accepted reading level scoring mechanisms such as Gunning-Fog or the Fleisch readability index.
• Prepares materials for the visually or hearing impaired. Researches, plans, and implements new operating and production methods.
• Researches and prepares operating and production procedures and reports.
• Serves as liaison with printers, contractors, and suppliers on media projects and the procurement of materials and supplies.
• Troubleshoots graphic design system hardware and software problems. Works with printers and ensures cost effective and quality printing is accomplished.
• Conducts and participates in the planning, development, and production of graphics materials to ensure client communication needs.
